Want to start a career in cyber security? This course will give you the skills you need to enter this in-demand industry.

In this course you will gain knowledge and skills by working in a purpose-built security operations centre (SOC) where you will complete simulated tasks and scenarios.

You will develop the skills required to operate as a cyber security technician in an organisation or business, as no sector is immune from cybercrime and other malicious cyber activity.

You will gain:

  • Skills to identify and analyse risk of security attacks and recommend appropriate strategies to mitigate the attacks
  • Cognitive, technical and communication skills to implement and use a range of tools and procedures to mitigate cyber security threats in a variety of contexts
  • Technical skills to apply solutions to a defined range of problems by verifying compliance of network security
  • A broad knowledge base of relevant Australian standards, codes of practice and industry guidelines on network security
  • The ability to evaluate information and analyse data gathered on network security to assess compliance and risk

You will also have access to a national network of TAFE cyber students for competitions and to local and national industry representatives for additional webinars.

To be succeessful in this course, it is recommended that you have completed a Certificate III level qualification or equivalent.

This course is delivered as a mixed mode course. The time commitment is 20 hours a week. There are two on-campus days, one online day (webinar plus teacher available) and one supported study session a week.
