The Tasmanian wine industry continues to grow with an increasing number of people establishing their own vineyards or finding employment within the industry. So if you’d like to join a flourishing industry… get yourself a qualification in Wine Industry Operations!

This course provides key vocational skills for people who are working – or wish to work – within a production or production support role within the wine industry. For students based in the workplace, learning is on-the-job, with some on campus learning. If you’re campus based, learning is conducted one day per week on campus. This course will provide you with the basic skills and knowledge you need for cool climate wine grape production.

As well as developing your skills carrying out canopy maintenance, planting vines by hand and pruning, you will learn how to train vines, take and process vine cuttings and pick grapes by hand. You’ll also learn how to recognise disorders, identify pests and diseases, as well as prepare and apply chemicals under supervision.

As part of the course, you will also learn how to implement a food safety program and procedures, apply quality systems, and participate in effective work health and safety processes.

On successful completion of this course, you will be prepared to seek employment or progress your career in the wine and viticulture industry. You may also like to continue your studies in this area and undertake FBP30921 - Certificate III in Wine Industry Operations.

Note – this course is available to both apprentices and non-apprentices.
