Brush up on your medical terminology to work more effectively in a medical or health related environment such as medical reception, medical sales or support, natural therapies, doctor’s surgeries and administration.

This short course is designed for anyone already working in the Health and Allied Health industries as a medical receptionist or ward clerk, or if you’re looking to work or study in health-related areas such as Individual Support or Nursing.

In this course, you will learn how to receive, interpret and document written and oral instructions using medical terminology, interpret abbreviations for specialised medical terminology and use medical terminology correctly when completing routine tasks.

You will also learn how to spell and pronounce medical terminology, and use appropriate medical terminology in oral communication with patients, fellow workers and health professionals.

While exploring medical terminology you will also gain a basic knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the body with a unit on Healthy Bodies. In this unit, you’ll learn how the body systems are structured and work, then attach the associated medical terminology to the relevant system.

Opportunities in the health sector continue to grow right across the country, with no indication of slowing down… so it’s a great time to update your skills and knowledge in this area and increase your employability in the Health Services industry!

This course is delivered fully online and is self-paced, taking approximately 36 hours to complete.

On successful completion of this course, you will receive a Statement of Attainment for the units completed.
