Developing the hydrogen skills for our future workforce

An industry-led approach is at the heart of a new TasTAFE partnership supporting hydrogen skills and training development in Tasmania.
TasTAFE and Countrywide Hydrogen have joined forces to support the development of bespoke vocational training offerings that align with current and future industry demand.
Countrywide Hydrogen is a pioneering developer of distributed renewable hydrogen projects, dedicated to making a measurable impact in decarbonising heavy transport, industrial heating and power generation.
A recently signed Collaboration Agreement between TasTAFE and Countrywide Hydrogen speaks to a mutual commitment for developing on-island capability for Tasmania’s growing green hydrogen industry.
TasTAFE CEO, Grant Dreher, acknowledged the significance of this partnership.
“This is another example of TasTAFE’s commitment to working closely with industry to develop the skills needed for our future clean energy workforce.
“Complementing our existing partnerships with the Bell Bay Advanced Manufacturing Zone (BBAMZ) and other clean energy proponents, we’re really excited to make available a new and innovative suite of hydrogen training products for the Tasmanian market,” Mr Dreher said.
Countrywide Hydrogen’s Managing Director, Geoffrey Drucker, reinforced this sentiment.
“For Tasmania to have a successful hydrogen industry, it must have an appropriately skilled and qualified workforce.
“We’re pleased to extend our expertise and industry connections to TasTAFE as they progress their hydrogen course development,” Mr Drucker said.
Supported by the Tasmanian Government’s Energising Tasmania initiative, TasTAFE expects the first stage of its hydrogen course development work to be completed by the end of 2025.

More about Countrywide Hydrogen
Countrywide Hydrogen’s groundbreaking Australian initiative, the Hydrogen HyWay, is poised to reshape Tasmania’s transport landscape. By connecting key locations across the state, this project will empower the road transport sector to start the transition from reliance on imported diesel, replacing it with locally-produced, zero-emission hydrogen – a major step towards a cleaner, sustainable future.
