Regional Trade Training Program gets underway
Published on: 05 Jul 2024
This week TasTAFE began the first of eight trade training programs designed to provide job seekers in regional areas with employment opportunities in construction trades.
The Regional Trade Training Program is a regionally based, five-day trade training program for participants seeking entry-level roles in their respective regional construction trade industries.
The first program began at TasTAFE’s Clarence Campus this week, with TasTAFE partnering with the Civil Contractors Federation Australia (CCF) to connect job seekers with suitable and meaningful employment pathways.
Over five days, participants gained their construction industry White Card, along with a range of other skills including communication and the operation of small plant and equipment. Enabled by CCF Tasmania and other local trade businesses, participants also enjoyed site visits to the new Bridgewater Bridge Project.
The Regional Trade Training Program is funded by the Australian Government Department of Employment and Workplace Relations through the Workforce Australia Local Jobs initiative. The program seeks to engage job seekers through Workforce Australia providers and Regional Jobs Hubs in southern Tasmania.
In total, eight programs will be delivered across four southern Tasmanian regions – Hobart, Brighton, Sorell and the Huon Valley – between July 2024 and May 2025, with two programs in each region.
For anyone interested in the program, please speak with your referring Workforce Australia provider or your relevant southern Regional Job Hub provider.
